At a rally of local residents Phil called on the State Government and the Minister for Planning to step in and immediately order the hazardous and noisy CMA scrap yard on Heatherdale Rd, Mitcham to ensure the safety and well being of the local residents or re-locate out of the area.
In an act of total disregard for community consultation the Rudd government has approved the funding of low income social housing next door to Mitcham RSL. They have in effect decreed through this process that taxpayers dollars can be used to bring those in our community who can least afford it to be tempted by the power of “the pokies"
Peter Garrett may have sung about “beds are burning” but it is real folk running the real risk of losing their homes, their beds are literally at risk of burning and Mr Symon claims that Garrett has done an ‘excellent job’? This shows that Mike Symon either has no appreciation of how grave the situation really is, or worse, has chosen to ignore his constituents.
