About Phil Barresi

Phil was born on 8 August 1955 and initially lived in Fremantle Western Australia. He later moved to Victoria.

Phil has always wanted to make a difference for the local community. He knows what it takes to deliver a safer, more efficient road network, family friendly health services and a community where families feel safe in their own neighbourhood.

Graduating from the Australian National University with a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Psychology, Phil went on to further studies and gained a Graduate Diploma in Applied Social Psychology.

Phil has had experience in many professional positions including management roles with Repco Corporation Australia, a directorship of a local consulting firm and most recently he worked as a Director with the Australian Retailers Association.

Active in the local community, Phil is currently a member of the Blackburn South Community Bank board, a member of the Nunawading Historical Society and a member of the Whitehorse Club. In the past he has been either a director or committee member of the Duke of Edinburgh Awards for Victoria, Reach Out for Kids, NADRASCA and the Migrant Information Centre.

With more than 11 years experience as the Member for Deakin, Phil Barresi knows what it means to be an effective local member of parliament. Working with the community, Phil secured funding for important local projects that helped to create local jobs, attracted families to the area and made Deakin a great place to live.

As the Liberal candidate for Deakin, Phil will work non-stop for local families, to protect and secure local jobs and will fight to make sure funding for local projects is secured
